Medical practitioner with specialist training in anaesthesia and intensive care.
Dr Andrew Bond is a consultant anaesthetist with a special interest in vascular surgery, regional anaesthesia, and obstetrics and gynaecology.
His role involves providing tailored anaesthesia care across a wide range of surgical specialties, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the perioperative journey.
With a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration, he also takes pride in mentoring trainees and contributing to the welfare of junior doctors.
Dr Bond completed his medical degree at King’s College London in 2014, following a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 2007. He undertook anaesthetic training in Queensland at the Mater Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital before completing a vascular anaesthesia fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He currently holds positions as a Senior Medical Officer at The Prince Charles Hospital and as a Visiting Medical Officer at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
A hands-on and practical specialty, anaesthesia appealed to Dr Bond for its wide scope of practice and the opportunity to work across different surgical fields. He enjoys the variety his role offers, from managing complex cases in vascular surgery to the precision required for regional anaesthesia.
His commitment to perioperative blood management and cell salvage reflects his broader interest in optimising patient outcomes and advancing anaesthetic care. He is actively involved in research and education, holds an academic title with the University of Queensland, and contributes to trainee teaching and development.
Outside work, Dr Bond stays active by swimming to keep fit and enjoys travelling whenever the opportunity arises.
